How can I copy or print something out if I don't have a GeldKarte?
- Printing and copying is possible at the coin-operated print and copy stations. You can only print out files (PDF, Postscript, JPEG, TIFF) from an USB flash drive
- You can use a non-account-linked lendable GeldKarte.
- TU Dortmund students can use the UniCard 2.0 as a GeldKarte for copying and printing from October 2011.

Which file formats can I print out?
- You can print out from all PCs in the Central Library (except some PCs in the media area on the second floor) and from all departmental libraries from the various applications installed on these PCs (Firefox, OpenOffice and Adobe Acrobat Reader).
- When you want to print out from your USB flash drive, the files must have one of the following formats: PDF, Postscript, JPEG or TIFF.
- When you print out from an USB flash drive, you can select several files for printing. Please note, that files with different formats can only be selected one after another.

How can I print several pages of a PDF document on one sheet?
If you cannot print out several pages of a PDF on one sheet, you can try this workaround: The original file must be converted to a new PDF document where the pages are scaled down, e.g. 4 pages on 1 page in landscape format. The new file can be printed out in portrait format.
Step by step instruction:
- Create a new PDF document
- Open the original document
- Click on the print icon
- Choose from Printer/Name "PDF Printer"
- Page settings
- Page scaling "Multiple pages per sheet"
- Select the number of PDF pages to be printed per page from the Pages per Sheet drop down box
- Choose from Page order "landscape"
- Click on "ok"
- Print this PDF document
- Open the folder "PDF"
- Choose the relevant PDF file ('job….pdf')
- Click on the print icon
- Choose from Printer/Name "SecurePrinter"
- Choose from page settings / page scaling "Fit to printable area"
- Choose from Page order "portrait"
- Click on "ok"

What are the advantages of the GeldKarte as electronic purse?
TU Dortmund has been looking for a versatile electronic purse. The decision for the GeldKarte has been made together with the Studentenwerk and the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts. In the near future you will be able to use the GeldKarte not only at the print and copy stations: the Mensa and the other gastronomic facilities are planning to accept the GeldKarte as means of payment. Moreover you can use your GeldKarte at ticket vending machines, parking ticket machines or at stamp-machines. Also, library users, who do not have a UniCard 2.0, can use the print and copy stations with their private GeldKarte.

What are the advantages of the GeldKarte over Electronic Cash?
The new print and copy stations use the GeldKarte chip only to debit charges. For this purpose card readers only read out the Chip ID and the credit balance and debit charges according to the amount of copies or print-outs. Bank details will not be read out, transmitted or utilized. When you pay using your GeldKarte no fees apply. The GeldKarte is an anonymous means of payment as "real" money is. It is like cash money, if you lose it, bang goes the money! When a personalized GeldKarte is found the card holder can be identified.

Is the safe to use the GeldKarte?
No bank details (Account number, sort code etc.) will be read out or transmitted. The GeldKarte and electronic cash are very often integrated on one card, but they are two different and independent means of payment.

How can I check whether the paper is out?
- When "mehr Papier" is displayed, please check whether the paper tray is empty. Therefore press the button with the eye in the hash and then "Ressourcen". You can also check this way, whether there is enough toner left.
- You can switch the paper tray before copying or printing by pressing "Papier wählen". If a try is empty, please switch to a tray with enough paper. Optionally choose an A4 tray instead an A3 tray.
