Library Account, Fees and Fines

How can I access my library account?
You can find your library account in our catalogue under "Account"/"Konto" (or, if you are already logged in, under "Your account"/"Ihr Konto").
Enter your library account / Uni-Account and password.
You can access the following subdirectories which you can also print or send via email:
- Borrowed items ("Ausleihen"):
- overdue items ("gemahnte Medien")
- recalled items ("rückgeforderte Medien")
- Items renewed
- interlibrary loans ("Fernleihen")
- Ordered Books ("Bestellungen"): reserved books and interlibrary loans which can be collected at the issue desk
- Reservations ("Vormerkungen")
- Fees and fines ("Gebühren")
Under "User details"/"Benutzerdaten" you can also see how long your library card is valid for. Here, external users can find out when the annual fee will be due.

What do I have to pay?
- Use of the library is free.
- Fines will be e.g. charged if books are returned late. There is a table of fees and fines on our web site. By logging onto your account, you can find out what amount is due.

How can I avoid fines?
- Please note that five days before the end of the loan period, you will receive a reminder by email (except for short loan in Departmental Libraries). You can register or change your email address in our catalogue.
This service does not relieve you of your responsibility to return media in due time. A fine is incurred if media are not returned within the loan period, regardless of the receipt of a reminder. - Return borrowed media by mail order to our postal address 'Universitätsbibliothek Dortmund, Vogelpothsweg 76, 44227 Dortmund'. You can chose the economic option Book shipment under certain conditions.
