Reading Room



Where is the reading room?

Reading room areas are located on the second and third floor of the Central Library. There are more than 300 seats for silent study. You may use your own notebook, your own study material or the book stock of the Central Library. There is a laptop-free area on the third floor (north, in view of Emil-Figge-Str. 50).

You can use a study materials locker if you do not want to bring your study materials to the library every time you come here to study.

Where do I find the group work area?

There is a group work area for study groups on the ground floor of the library.

Please be considerate of other users and make sure that your group discussions do not get out of hand and that a reasonably quiet atmosphere is preserved.

How can I get a locker for study material?

You can rent one of 208 study material lockers for a short or longer period. You can find the lockers on the second and third floor of the Central Library.

The keys are handed out and taken back during business hours of the lending services.
Renewal of the term of lease for lockers is not possible. If you fail to return the key in time, there will be overdue fines.

You can also rent a locker at the Departmental Library of Biochemical and Chemical Engineering (BCT), Departmental Library of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (BE), Departmental Library of Mathematics (BM), Departmental Library of Statistics (BS) and the Emil-Figge-Bibliothek (EFB). Please contact the respective departmental library.
