Paying with Cash or GeldKarte
You can pay ...
- ... with coins if you are using one of the coin-operated print and copy stations
- ... with a GeldKarte: A GeldKarte chip can be found on your cash card ("EC-Karte") or on your UniCard 2.0 or on the
- ... non-account-linked lendable GeldKarte.
You can get such a GeldKarte for a refundable card deposit of 5 Euro at the central cashier's office of the 'Studentenwerk' in the mensa building. There you can
- get a card that can be charged with your cash card at the charging terminal in the Central Library.
- buy a prepaid card (minimum 5 Euro)
Opening hours of the central cashier's office:
- Monday - Friday every morning: 9am - 12.15pm
- Monday - Wednesday: 1pm - 3pm
- Thursday: 1pm - 4pm
- Friday: 1pm - 2.30pm

- Four stations on the Ground Floor (two of the four are coin-operated - at this station copying, scanning and printing from a USB flash drive is possible)

The GeldKarte Chip on your Cash Card or UniCard 2.0
- To use the print and copy stations for copying, printing and scanning, you need a GeldKarte (the GeldKarte chip on your cash card or UniCard 2.0).
- For further information about the GeldKarte, see official website.
- You can charge your UniCard 2.0 with credit at the loading terminals on the TU Dortmund campuses (locations and more locations see above). The GeldKarte on your cash card can be charged at cash terminals, too.
- Charging the GeldKarte chip of your cash card at the charging station is free of a service charge, regardless of which bank you are with. Please note: However, some banks charge a basic fee for the usage of the GeldKarte function.

- The display of the print and copy stations for copying, printing and scanning is wheelchair accessible: Pull out the display and adjust the angle.
Copying at the Print and Copy Stations
- Insert your card with the GeldKarte chip or your lendable card into the card reader or insert coins into a coin-operated print and copy station and insert paper or papers or put on the book.
- Select the button "Anmelden" in the lower part of the display, then select "Kopie".
- Select specific settings if needed, then push the green copy button of the print and copy station.
- To quit, select the button "Logout" in the display. Your card will be ejected shortly.
- Please note: Do not select the "Logout" button at the coin-operated machine! Still not working? Push the red button above the coin slot.
Printing at the Print and Copy Stations
You can print out from all PCs in the Central Library (except some PCs in the media area on the second floor), from all departmental libraries and from your notebook. Please note: Print jobs on the coin-operated machines can only be started from a USB flash drive (see below for instructions).
Starting a Print Job from a PC
- Select what you want to print.
- Click on "Drucken" in the menu "Datei". Use the preset "Secure printer".
- In the next window called "Benutzerauthentifizierung", you can either enter your uni account (as a user name) and your password or memorize/write down the automatically generated job code.
- Your print job will be saved for 72 hours. Print jobs will be deleted after 72 hours.
Printing
- Insert your card with the GeldKarte chip or your lendable card into the card reader of a print and copy station.
- Log in with your uni account and password (you will only need to log in once, the GeldKarte will then be linked to your account).
- Alternatively, you can also print anonymously. In this case, you will need to enter the job code.
- Select "Drucken" and confirm.
- Select the intended print job, then klick "Drucken".
- Printing starts automatically after a couple of seconds.
- To quit, select the button "Logout" in the display. Your card will be ejected shortly.
Starting a Print Job from a USB Flash Drive
- Insert your card with the GeldKarte chip or your lendable card into the card reader or insert coins into a coin-operated print and copy station.
- To print anonymously, select the button "Anmelden" in the lower part of the display.
- Insert the USB flash drive. Please note: The PrintStations will only print PDF, Postscript, JPEG oder TIFF files.
- Select "Zugang zu gespeicherten Dateien" and select Speichermedium (A:).
- Select the document(s) you would like to print and select "Drucken".
- Don't forget to eject the USB flash drive by pushing the green symbol in the display!
- To quit, select the button "Logout" in the display. Your card will be ejected shortly.
- Please note: Do not select the "Logout" button at the coin-operated machine! Still not working? Push the red button above the coin slot.
Starting a Print Job from your own Notebook
- A client for the PrintStations and instructions can be found on the webpage "Informationen für Anwender" -> submenu "Ressourcen" on the left.
- Printing is easily possible within TU Dortmund WLAN. However, you cannot start printjobs from within NAT-networks such as the cable network connection within Dortmund University Library or from the generic DSL-configuration of most home networks. If you are using such a network connection, you will need to use the Cisco VPN client in addition. The symbol appearing in your system tray after having installed the PrintStation driver will turn green after a while.
Scanning
- Insert your card with the GeldKarte chip or your lendable card into the card reader of a print and copy station (no credit on your card needed).
- Select the button "Anmelden" in the lower part of the display.
- Insert the USB flash drive.
- Select "Scannen und Speichern" and "Speichermedium (A:)", then push "Scan".
- Enter a name for the file and select specific settings if needed.
- Push the green copy button of the Print and Copy Station.
- Please note: Save the file at least every 30 pages.
- Save the file by selecting "Speichern starten".
- Don't forget to eject the USB flash drive by pushing the green symbol in the display!
- To quit, select the button "Logout" in the display. Your card will be ejected shortly.
- In the digitisation room on the second floor you can find software to edit the scanned files.
