Borrowing and Returning Items in the Central Library
You can issue and return books and other media during opening hours of the Central Library.
Borrowing
To borrow items, please use the self issue terminals on the ground floor of the Central Library. You need a library card or your UniCard
Important information
- If the item has no bar code on the cover, please contact a counter during business hours of the Lending Services
- Books in our reference collection and journals may not be borrowed.
- Books from our textbook collection can only be borrowed by students of TU Dortmund or the Universities of Applied Sciences Dortmund, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen and Südwestfalen.
Reservations Shelf
Reserved items can be collected from the reservations shelf on the ground floor of the Central Library (the items on the reservations shelf are sorted by shelf marks). You can collect reserved items during opening hours of the Central Library (items ordered by interlibrary loan excepted).
- You can check your account in our catalogue which items are ready for collection and their shelf marks.
- Please, check dates due for return on your receipt. If the loan period is shorter than usual, you will not get a reminder by email.
- Please check whether the items are damaged. If this should be the case, please contact a counter at the Lending Services.
Returning
To return items, please use the book return station in the foyer of the Central Library.
Important information
Come to a counter at the Lending Services during business hours to
- return interlibrary loan items
- reissue your returned items
- return XXL books
- return items without any bar code on the cover
Books and other media issued in our Departmental Libraries can be returned only in the respective Departmental Library.
